Richwood Bank, in an effort to follow this advice, has decided to do something no other bank has done; open a coffee shop inside their lobby. Richwood Coffee will exist inside the Richwood Bank branch in Richwood, Ohio.
Banks all over the country have identified the decline of customers entering the branch and have embraced the technology of the digital world. While many have employed machines for transactions, Richwood Bank has a better solution. The advanced technology to make transactions faster, safer and more efficient is always one of their top goals; however the branch is about the interaction – not just the transaction. This is where relationships can truly evolve. A coffee shop with a purpose is just one of many ways Richwood Bank is striving to achieve a new vision of community banking.
When asked about the reasoning behind this bold and innovative move, President and CEO of Richwood Bank, Chad Hoffman, responded with this “We embrace the time saving benefits of today’s technology advances. We know it is important to provide our customers with top of the line products from mobile banking to an array of online resources. Richwood Bank has invested in products and services that compete with any national bank! But in what book does it say the experience with a bank can’t be a memorable one? As Walt Disney said, “We want to provide an experience that makes someone want to come back and bring their friends!”
Designed to foster the idea of community, the Richwood Coffee Shop will provide local residents a place to get a high quality coffee drink. The Coffee Shop will also offer smoothies and non caffeinated drinks, making it just as appealing for kids.
The set up of Richwood Coffee is designed to allow the customer to either join a perks program or donate their funds to a designated community organization. The Perks Program gives the customer a plethora of bank “perks” such as a free personalized debit card and free money orders. If a customer does not visit the coffee shop regularly, they may prefer to simply donate their money to one of the community organizations in return for a delicious drink.
Richwood Bank has thoughtfully chosen community organizations that have the largest reach and affect the largest amount of residents in and around Richwood. If you choose to donate your funds in exchange for a drink, you will be able to donate to The Richwood Independent Fair, Memorial Hospital, United Way of Union County, or North Union Schools.
